New here!
Hi, I'm MMAKid and I'm from West Liberty in Ohio USA
I've been doing MMA for 7 months - 2 BJJ lessons a week and 1 thai boxing and one Judo / Wrestling combination. I wrestled for 2 years in high school as well and like it more than striking
Nice to be here, forum looks great

Welcome to the forum mate, wrestlers tend to beat strikers anyway, but don't neglect your striking!

Re: New here!
Sounds good mate, what weight are you currently at? and I know 2 years is a long time but what weight do you intend to fight at?
Re: New here!
I am currently 5ft 4 / 130lbs - In 2 years at a guess I might be in the region of 5ft 7 - 5ft 9 and hopefully with all the training around 150lbs+ and as lean as possible

Re: New here!
Who knows you might have a growth spurt, a lot changed between 14 and 16 so you might end up a bit bigger, do you think you will be over 6ft when you stop growing or?
Also what sort of training do you do at home?

Re: New here!
Hopefully, and yeah I would like to be about 6ft 1 - 2 but who knows
And at home I have my heavy bag I the garage and some little dumbbells so it's just the usual really: Heavy-bag, shadow-boxing, weights, pressups, situps, runs / sprints

Re: New here!
It certainly is, but not so much in amatuer depending on what the rules are for the specific event, but cardio is still VERY important in competitive fighting
mmakid - If you've been training 7 months already with 2 years until you plan to fight, you're going to be an absolute monster, might even see you in the UFC some day

Re: New here!
That's the plan, but I'm not sure if I could get into the UFC but who knows
And I do a lot of sprints and jogs

Re: New here!
Wow really? I can't wait for my first amatuer bout tbh
It doesn't seem that daunting with all the gear / rules tbh
